***SPOILER ALERT***
So I've always been one to defend Tyler Perry at all cost, but after what I saw this weekend in Clinton, MS... I'm straddling the fence. I think it may very well be time to retire Madea. First off, you don't go to see a Madea movie without expecting things to be over the top, but this movie, was too far over the top. Is that even possible? It was seriously unrealistic in more ways than one and many of the jokes were drawn out and just lame. I've noticed in the past that some of his movies have this awkward pause in speech as if it gives the audience time to either laugh or absorb the joke to be able to laugh later. The same thing existed in this movie. Lil Romeo's role was probably the worst of them all. I appreciate his efforts to step into another avenue of entertainment, but this role, as well as that college commercial he's in, should have been thought out more carefully. After about 45 minutes I had already shared a few laughs and was tired of watching the movie and was beginning to fall asleep.
So what's my overall review?
It was predictable and unnecessary.
I do, however, look forward to Tyler Perry starring in the Alex Cross movie as well as his future attempt at sci-fi movies.
