I've always wanted to take a painting class and am completely stoked that I finally got the opportunity. For those who didn't know, I actually can draw and used to do a bit of oil painting in the past. I've vowed to get back into it soon but still have yet to do so. I found this cool Living Social deal for a painting class at Arts n Spirits in Chicago. I scheduled to do the "Starry Night" painting last Friday with my beau.
The location is this cute little spot in Bucktown on Damen Ave. The front of the store sells custom jewelry and handbags. The back was set up with about 3 long tables with canvases ready for painting. You are instructed on which paints are apart of the actual painting and encouraged to try others if you would like to further customize your painting.
The class was about a 2 hour class with breaks to allow the paint to dry and to refill on drinks since it's BYOB. The instructor supplied us with a very great mix of music on her iPod. There also was a raffle for a free painting class in which I was so sad that I didn't win. The walls of the business are appropriately decorated with all of the paintings that are offered for classes.
Overall the experience was amazing and I think that anyone of any age, gender, ethnicity, etc would enjoy such a class. :) I look forward to doing it again, or better yet, getting back into painting by studying the late Bob Ross as I planned to do this year.
