Despite the moral beliefs behind this, we all are usually initially attracted to someone based on superficial reasons. You ever met someone that was so attractive in appearance, but upon conversation you realized that they were very shallow minded, lacked direction or imagination, lacked intelligence or just flat out substance? Sure you have. We all have. It's like having beauty wiht no brains. From the teachings of my mother, it is my belief that in life you're supposed to plant positive seeds within people. So we all carry a garden, but what does your garden grow? If we are all a box, then what is yours filled with? I've previously talked about Fruits of the Spirit in a blog entitled, "What is your garden growing?" That post talked about what are you nurturing your spirit with. The last thing you want is to be an empty box with nothing to offer. Fill yourself and replenish yourself consistently with love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. While we all may not have an empty box, we indeed may need to take some time to enhance what we have.
To add to that I've always liked the concept of the Little Free Pantry, which are neighborhood boxes where people leave donations of food. This allows those who are less fortunate to pick what they need. I know that we must guard our hearts and ourselves from those who prey on others by seeking to only receive, but we should still strive to selflessly offer something to others, like a seed that they can plant in their own garden. We all lack a little something. With the help of God and the love of others, sometimes that's all we need.
