Last year I took on a new form of working out. I started boxing. The crazy part is that I'm such a girly girl and never imagined myself boxing. I started taking cardio boxing at Title Boxing Club in May 2016 after being invited by a friend. At that point I realized I had reached the weight that I believe everyone has set for themselves and consider to be "too much". For me that weight was 170 lbs. I reached all the way up to 178 lbs. I'm still ashamed to say that and though I had dropped like 15 lbs at one point, I just stepped on the scale a few days ago and realized that I've creeped back up to that weight. I will admit that after reaching 28+ years old, it's been hard as heck to drop weight like I used to. I'm used to ranging from 145 to 155. Hanging in the 160-175 range makes me extremely uncomfortable. Yes I'm like 5"8 and everyone says that they don't see it, but I DO! I've had to buy new clothes and get rid of some of my favorites to accommodate this.
In Dec 2016, I switched my membership from Title Boxing Club to a local gym called Chronos which has a boxing class called Empower and a full-on gym. Empower offers a variety of exercises from TRX to HIIT to boxing. It's been a great experience. I took TRX for the first time about a year ago at another gym and absolutely loved it. I wanted somewhere where I could vary my workouts. So my current workout schedule is about 3-4 days a week of boxing. In recent weeks. I've been attempting to incorporate a day of cardio and a focus area, in particular abs and glutes. My lack of abs or even just a flat stomach has been my struggle for my entire life. It's quite tiresome at times when I'm bloated and asked if I'm pregnant, yet when I've lost some weight, I'm told congratulations on having a baby. Yes! This happens more often than you would think and has been since I was in high school. I'm by far not the biggest person but I guess people have to always point out your flaw and that's my most obvious one.
One can say it's my diet, but you honestly would think that working out would do SOMETHING. I'm a lover of bread and occasionally fall week to candy... in particular the white cholocate Reese's peanut butter cups are so BOMB. I seriously want and need to get it together since I haven't had kids and the weight should be easier to drop.
Workout goals for the remainder of 2017?
I'd love to lose 15-20 lbs and feel great about the things I'd like to wear in Hawaii in January 2017.
How do I plan to get there?
While I have a great trainer for boxing, I'm considering conquering my fears and working with a personal trainer more consistently to help rid myself of what's been causing me misery. May the most fit woman win!!
