As most people who are into celebrity gossip already know, D Wade had a child conceived by another woman, Aja Metoyer, during his "break" from Gabrielle Union. Lately I've been listening to The Breakfast Club on Q93 since it has replaced the Steve Harvey Morning Show (It moved to 98.5). This show posed the question of what if it was your significant other who did this. What would you do?
I think after reading enough of my blogs my answer goes without stating, but I'll brief you anyway. Lol. If a guy breaks from me for under a year and is having unprotected sex then clearly he has no intentions of getting back with me. I don't knock anyone from moving on, but if we are just "breaking" then that means we have the spoken intent to resume. Now when time has passed it's expected and required that one must move on, and I accept that. If ANY man conceives a child recently and approaches me I will question his ability to commit. I don't like and have never approved of bed hoppers. You were just with this chick like 9 months ago and probably in between then and now you want me when y'all loved each other enough to produce life? Do men still believe these chicks when they say they are on birth control? As a man why didn't you protect yourself with a condom AND withdrawal? It was too good to you, huh?
We have all made some poor judgment calls in our day, but as mature adults, knock it off! The baby's mother is now coming hard on social media networks with claims that they have been together for 9 year. Nine years would include D Wade's marriage to his first wife. Now that would make me pack my things and exit stage left with my pride in tow and middle finger in the air. Supposedly, this info all comes from a fake account, but the drama circling this is enough. No man will allegedly cheat on me, conceive a child and expect to get back with me no matter how large the ring is. This man already has full custody of his 2 sons and is taking care of his nephew. Did we really just add a 4th responsibility to the plate that isn't my own? Hell no! As far as other tid bids on Miss Metoyer, we know she went to high school with D Wade, and she has 2 other children for Damon Wayans, Jr. Gold digger much? Hmmm... (I said I would be brief, but please forgive my rant. Lol.)
So on The Breakfast Club earlier this week Charlamagne was asked if he would take his girl back if she had a baby for another dude. His answer was a swift, "Hell no!". Why is it that men of all races, backgrounds, shapes and sizes are usually so unforgiving of women yet we women continue to be forgivingly stupid for men? I don't know of a man yet that dated a woman who is pregnant for someone else. Men don't want the shame. They don't want their homeboys saying congratulations on your baby and having to respond, "Thanks dog, but that's not my baby." Charlamagne then pointed out that none of us have the kind of money that D Wade or Gab have so we can only say what we would do in a broke mindset. He said if it was Oprah then he may have to reconsider. So our pride and dignity are altered once we have money? I hope to dear God that my self worth is not altered by success. I don't agree with anyone accepting someone's doggish ways. You don't have to. There's nothing written anywhere that states that you have to deal with it. Charlemagne then said that this is why polygamy should be legal. At this point I was done with the conversation. I know he's just mouthing off but other males agreed. But who did polygamy ever benefit? Men only. Men were allowed even in Bible days to have multiple wives while women could only have one husband. Look at Solomon. This male chauvinistic world that we live in.
I was really rooting for D Wade and Gab, but now I just hope she takes a true evaluation of self and her worth and make the best decision to protect her own well being while she still can. To top it off, her series on BET is amazing which I will blog about later. She did an interview on 106 & Park with Omari Hardick, one of her love interests in the movie and show "Being Mary Jane", and she seemed a little spiteful toward D Wade. We can't forgive and accept something and then be spiteful although even I am guilty of this. When asked about a steamy shower scene between the two she basically said something on the lines of "D Wade better go to sleep," and made a face like now what? I commend her boldness, but you aren't entitled to deal with this man's crap and feel the need to retaliate. Is this the cost of love?
