R.I.P. Yvette Wilson and Rodney King

The year 2012 has really shown itself to not hold back any punches. On June 14, 2012 we lost actress Yvette Wilson to cervical cancer at 48 years old. For those not familiar with Wilson, she played as "Andell" on UPN/CW sitcoms Moesha and The Parkers. I first remember her on the show Thea and later on the movie Friday. Recently I've been watching episodes of The Parkers on Centric, Friday was playing last week, and Wilson was also featured on Shar Jackson's Life After. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

Not to add more sadness to the pot, but today on Father's Day we were informed that the infamous Rodney King had passed away of a supposed drowning at only 47 years old. Everyone who is anyone remembers King from the police brutality case of the '90s which sparked the L.A. riots and his often quoted statement, "Can't We All Just Get Along?". It's sad that his celebrity status is due to being a victim of one of the most renown racial cases of all time. Hopefully now he can truly find rest and peace since he never seemed to find it hear on earth. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends as well.
