Food Venture: The Counter

Such a gorgeous day
I've never really been big on burgers. At least not big enough to go to a restaurant and order one. I ran across this sweet deal on Guilt City that offered $40 worth of food at The Counter for just $20. The deal was nationwide so I decided to claim it at the location on West Diversity in Chicago. Again, I brought the beau with me b/c I knew I couldn't eat this massive amount of food alone. Surprisingly, it was a Friday afternoon and I was able to find a parking spot right out front in this busy Lincoln Park area. The location seems to be perfect. It's right across the street from Trader Joe's and Akira and right next door to Akira Shoes. As you can imagine, I definitely stopped in to shop a little too. Lol. The Counter was a very cute spot. Since the weather was so nice, they opened the large window that makes up the whole front wall of the restaurant so it felt as if we were eating outside. Service was prompt and our waitress was very friendly.

The menu consisted of numerous types of burgers with just about any topping you can imagine. We ordered some fries. I ordered a 2/3 lb burger complete with lettuce, tomatoes, mustard, mayo, avocado, pepper Jack cheese and grilled onions. At first I thought I ordered a burger that was way to big for me to finish. Surprisingly I finished the whole thing. :) It was by far one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. You have to try really hard to beat my mom's homemade burgers or to even come close. Our total came up to $36, in which I was shocked that I didn't use the whole coupon.

I don't think I'll ever order a burger at just a regular restaurant, but I definitely plan to be more open to burger joints like this. I can't wait to revisit this place in the spring when I'm in California.

What a menu?! So many decisions to make.
