The Case of the Fitbit

Like the true technology lover that I am, in 2015, I decided to buy the Fitbit Charge HR. My first impression was that I loved it. I loved being able to track my fitness to that level. I have been able to compete with friends/family. I have been able to set goals for the day and actually hold myself accountable to achieving them. My biggest issue with Fitbit is their poor quality product. Though the product really is a great one, the workman ship is awful. The device literally fell apart maybe 9 months into use. Luckily the warranty allows you to replace it within a year. A few months later and the repacement Fitbit had a chipped screen. So last November or so I was faced with the idea of if I wanted to purchase an iWatch or another Fitbit. I was sold by the heartrate monitor on my Charge HR and kind of liked being connected but not so connected to my Fitbit opposed to the idea of having an iWatch which would literally be a phone on my wrist. So i settled for buying the Charge 2. There I was again, in love with the product and all that it could do. It has a larger screen. It also had a nice relaxation function that allowed breathing exercises. It also allowed not just caller ID and text notification but a snippet of the text that was sent. I was sold on this product until I noticed about a month or two ago that I can no longer receive call or text notifications. About 3 weeks ago I noticed a crack in my screen and as of 2 weeks ago, the entire band broke of with several internal pieces breaking too. Like seriously, for a product that cost like $140... it needs to be better quality. The only great thing about my FitBit being out of commission is that I finally placed batteries in like 9 watches that were dead since I never wore them since I got the FitBit. Also I actually want to wear a regular watch every day now and prefer that look over having a clump of technology ruling my life on my wrist. Though these pros exist, I still miss knowing how many steps I've done for the day or week and challenging friends. I figure I'll see if I can get this one replaced by the warranty again. If not then I may be reconsidering an iWatch again. I just really wish they'd redesign the product to make it last longer.  It makes me wish I had just coughed up the extra dollars in the beginning and bought the iWatch. I suppose like anything else, I can't cry over spilled milk. We shall see what decision I make in the upcoming weeks.
