HIIT Tuesdays

What the hell is HIIT?
HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. I have been engaging in this type of workout one way or another for a little over a year now as it's incorporated into the boxing classes that I've attending. This month I attended free sessions of HIIT on Tuesdays in City Park, sponsored by Lululemon. The instructor of the month is Daymian McGuire who has been one of my favorite boxing instructors and the creator of the program EMPower. I have truly never taken a class on such a broad scale before. The Tuesdays sessions have included over 100 people straight getting it in the park. Every one marching to the beat of their own drums but to the same song. Truly amazing experience.

The sessions have been intense. Anyone who has been to New Orleans this time of year knows that it's literally hot as hell. It's the perfect set up for either a heat stroke or for a healthy, well hydrated person, it's perfect for a great workout. Though the sessions end next Tuesday, I must say that I look forward to doing some things like this in the future. I'm currently gym homeless and any great workout that's for free at this particular point is well appreciated. My fitness goals are still the same. Hopefully I reach them.

If you want a great work out, come join us next Tuesday for our final session at the Peristyle in City Park for 6:30pm for an hour of one of the most lit HIIT sessions in the city. You will sweat. You will be exhausted. You will be sore the next day. But you will feel great and have a blast!
