A Grown Folks' Move

I think the older you get, the more emphasis you place on appreciating the simple things. So the other day I purchased my first pill box... and I'm completely stoked. Don't judge. Lol. I think the reasoning is simply because I don't view it as a negative, and I have a knack for small and cutesy yet useful items. My reasoning is also not due to illness. It's very small, but serves its purpose for the few medications that I need to place in it and small enough to throw into my purse.

What meds could I possibly be putting in them?
Well I stopped taking daily vitamins a few years ago since a conversation with a physician friend of mine. We both agreed that you should be receiving your daily vitamins via your diet. I'm currently taking my usual BC pills and now I've been advised to take Vitamin B Complex and 10000 I.U. of Vitamin D3. I went to a health event at the gym where I did some blood work. The results came back only significant of a severe deficiency in vitamin B12 and D3. I've been advised to take the B complex for the rest of my life and 10000 I.U. of Vitamin D3 for 3 mo then dropping down to 5000 I.U. after that.

What's the significance of Vitamin B?
The Vitamin B Complex is used to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiency. has Thiamine (Vitamin B1) (as Thiamin Mononitrate), Riboflavin (Vitaming B2), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Niacin (as NIacinamide), Vitaming B6 (as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 (as Cyancobalamin), Biotin, Pantothenic Acid (as Calcium d-Pantothemate), Choline Bitartrate, Inositol and Para-Aminobenzoid Acid (PABA). According to WebMD, Vitamin B12 in particular is often for numerous conditions including memory loss, mental function, immune system, boosting of mood, energy, and a host of other conditions. Though it can be found in the diet, many people are deficient of it. Some signs of deficiency include tingling or numbing of hands and legs, trouble walking, difficulty thinking, hallucinations, weakness and fatigue. Of these symptoms, I must admit that I'm always tired, and in recent months I had been experiencing where my hands would go numb and have the tingling sensation as if it's "sleep", without me laying on it or having it in a position where this should be the case. I had every intention of going to the doctor for this because the frequency of it was steadily increasing.

What's the significance of Vitamin D?
Vitamin D3 can be found in our diet, but is primarily consumed from the sun. It is very common for African Americans to be Vitamin D deficient. It is needed for the regulation of calcium and phosphorus in the body. Vitamin D is can be used in strengthening bone health and the immune system. It reduces cavities, reduces the risk of multiple sclerosis, and a host of other things. It is also good on the skin for patients with psoriasis. Common side effects of deficiency can result in osteoporosis and bone and muscle pain or weakness.

Though I started taking these vitamins in May, I fell off tremendously after my trip to Canada. I've resumed and am hoping that this pill box helps me along the way. I'm hoping to truly feels the positive effects of taking them both. Presently I do feel more energetic, but I don't know if it's my mind just telling me that. I do plan to consider taking the liquid forms in the future, but for now, I plan to stick with the pills.

One of my friends finds it hilarious that I even bought the pill box in the first place, but let's be clear... this is a grown folks' move if you ask me. Judge if you may. Lol.
