6 years a Naturalista and Counting...

January 2011 I made the revolutionary decision to make that month's relaxer my last one. Here I am 6 years later and completely in bliss with my hair. What's crazy is that I'm often told that I don't have "bad hair" so natural works for me. Let's just say this. No matter what your hair is like or the texture, OWN IT! My black is beautiful and so is yours. No you may not be able to rock a wash and go, but you can rock twists on a daily and not look like Celie how I do when I attempt it. You just have to know what works for you and your hair, and own it. Weaves are great and sometimes necessary, but take care of what God gave you as well. Might I add that 2016 was the first time I got a sew in since May 2012. I loved it and I've ordered more bundles from Luscious Hair that I plan to rock at some point this year. Every now and then I get really tired of doing my hair and a sew in or braids are a life saver.

Here's a recap of my natural hair moments from 2016 til now:

My attempt a mini twists on blown out hair

But the twist out results were amazing!
Back to the basics... my old faithful twist out.

For 2016, my attempts at wet medium sized (purple and grey) flexi-rod sets were amazing.

Oct 2016 Straightening

My sew-in... S/o to my sister for being an amazing hair stylist.

First time having feed-in cornrows done by @su_fabulous.
My ever so faithful bun...

New color: Mahogany (because red heads have more fun)

My attempt at the twist and curl method:

 Loved these results!!!

Feed-in braids done by my sister:
The braidout results from the take down! Love this!

Overall my journey has been very rewarding. While many naturalistas focus on achieving length goals, my goal has always been to maintain healthy hair. So for those who want to know how long I'm trying to grow it? There's your answer. I often debate cutting it all off. Here are some progress pictures that show how long it's gotten over the years.

For 2017 my goals are to do more protective styles and though I only straighten once or twice a year anyway, I do not plan to wear my hair straightened this year. Goals beyond that... Let's just go to infinity and beyond!!
