Food venture: DBLBLK Café

The inner foodie in me can seemingly never be suppressed. I'm so proud of myself for making my lunch for work all week, but for my cheat day what did I eat? DBLBLK Café, of course. I discovered this place because a friend wanted me to try it since he knows the owners. Well that friend never brought me it so I went myself. I first tried it two weeks ago and ate it twice in one week. That alone speaks volumes of this place.

So what's on the menu?
Everything from wraps to salads to shrimp stuffed hamburgers to wings to yaka mein to "style fries" which are fries with any seasoning or sauce they offer on it.

What did I have?
For my first visit I ordered the shrimp wrap with cheese style fries with garlic Parmesan and ranch. It was heavenly. The second time I ordered the same but added salmon to my wrap. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the salmon. It was very flavorful and wasn't dry. Today I just had what I had the first time. Next time I plan to try the stuffed burger and an adult beverage. The piña colada drink pictured on their IG calls my name every time I see it.

My take...
This place is amazeballs. Although done people I've brought here have complained of pricing even they had to admit that you truly get your money's worth. The wraps seem small but are filled to capacity with your meat of choice. Today was my first time actually being able to finish my wrap and fries. I do wish it was a more "dine-in" friendly place but based on location, I'm not sure how that would work out. I also wished their hours spandex beyond 10-4 on weekdays so that I can bring some family and friends on the weekend. The chef seems to be pretty amazing based on her plethora of culinary variety in photos on her personal IG page. I really wouldn't change much about this place. Great business idea and great food. I can't wait to return.

If you are ever in New Orleans, go check out DBLBLK Café at 247 S. Robertson.
