Something's Are Better Left Un-text...

Is there an etiquette to what should or shouldn't be sent via text? I think we all have our individual thoughts on that, but shouldn't there be some gold standard? Is there not a varying level of importance, and things that rank pretty high would definitely warrant a phone call? For instance, I wouldn't be pleased if my job text me and said I've been fired or if my siblings text me to say a parent died. I wouldn't be happy if my boyfriend text me it's over or if my best female friend text me saying that she's pregnant for my boyfriend. Just as we can think of some things that we don't want to pick up our phones and read perhaps we should "Text others the way we want to be text." Just some food for thought...
