California Food Trucks

Food trucks are like the next best things since sliced bread. Well, let me retract that statement. I am usually pretty grossed out by food trucks. When I was in undergrad at Xavier University (pre-Katrina), I didn't have a car, the campus didn't have much food to offer, yet there was a food truck that would set up shop usually in from of the Administrative Building. The food was excellent until the one time I ordered the wrong thing and let's just say things went down hill. Since then I questioned the sanitation of these trucks and tried to avoid them and all other street food. After watching all of these Food Network or Travel Channel shows that involved food trucks and indulging in cupcake trucks in Chicago, I decided to give it another try. We took one Tuesday recently to go down to the Santa Monica food trucks. The lines were minimal at about 6 or 7 when we went down. The weather was cool and crisp like any other California night. I don't remember the names of the trucks but there was everything from tacos, which we ordered 2 sample plates to pork sliders to kimchi and bulgogi sandwiches to Indian chicken and chutney wraps. The food was delicious. Many of them accepted debit/credit cards while others only accepted cash. The food ranged from $6 to $10 per item. The experience was great, and I hope I get to try the L.A. food trucks soon.
