A Notion

Sometimes things can occur in your life that cause you to question, "Lord why me?" I know I can't possibly be the only person who's questioned that about myself or someone I know. Some things can just be so tragic, so painstaking, so stressful, etc that one can't help but wonder why or how anything like this could happen. A few years ago I came across a statement that said to some effect that questioning "Why me?" is like asking the Lord "Why not someone else?" So do you want to wish your misfortune on someone else? Probably not unless you are just that evil in thinking. So in the midst of being pressured into thinking such a thought ask yourself "Lord why not me?" You are just as eligible for trials and tribulations as the next person.

I'm not a major Bishop T.D. Jakes fan for one reason or another, but my mother was watching/listening to one of his televised sermons the other day. In this sermon, he encouraged believers to consider their "test" a compliment. I thought that this was an interesting take on the topic. How can one consider their test or trials in life as a compliment? Basically if things are going too smooth then obviously you aren't doing something right b/c Satan always seeks to rob and destroy the spirit of a believer who is striving to do the right thing. If you look at Job, he was tested b/c he had it going on for the Lord. Satan wanted to try to knock him off the Rock that he was so faithfully standing upon and the Lord let him try b/c he knew that Satan would fail. So with that thought, ask yourself when was your last test? Looking at my life and my present situation, I can say thank you Lord for the compliment. Being thankful in spite of... Sounds like an old goal that will definitely be brought into the new year.
