My Big Day: North Alabama Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Rocking the "Support the Cure" hat my friend bought me.
I am beyond excited and proud of myself for my accomplishment this past weekend. For those of you who follow my blog or who know me, I've been training haphazardly since May to run a 5K. I didn't reach my time goal by 4 minutes but I finished nonetheless. I realize that I'm being too hard on myself and it's just my first 5K and it was more about the cause. I truly am honored to be apart of such a great cause. I can't begin by saying how many people I know who have been affected in some way, shape, form or fashion by breast cancer or just cancer in general. and how it has directly affected my life. To see so many people... so many families... so many MEN supporting their moms, wives, aunts, friends, sisters, grandmothers, etc was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I will truly never forget this day. I wish I had stayed longer to enjoy the festivities of the day but there's always next year. By then I'll probably have my own team and be able to do more than I was this time. Nevertheless, it's a start and I'm proud of this moment in my life.
The fountain was dyed pink. :)
Posing before the race.
About to get started. :)
After the race. Surprised I don't look that beat up.
My number and T-shirt. :)
So many families... so many people... so much positive energy. :)
