Now did you really believe that I could go to N.O. last month without pigging out?? Lol. I didn't think so. I decided to try the infamous Juan's Flying Burritos on Carrollton. Yeah, yeah. I know I'm late on giving this a try but it's never too late to try good food.
Somehow this place ended up being everything I expected. It's a Mexican restaurant with a Cajun twist. The entire staff kinda have that edgy, punk rock sort of feel to them. We were seated in under 10 minutes. What's Mexican without a Sangria? I don't know because I ordered a white sangria that taste like fruit punch. It seemed as if they forgot to put alcohol in it.
After contemplating for what seemed like a while, I decided to go with the Flying Enchiladas (steak, chicken, and shrimp grilled together, then stuffed inside our cheese enchiladas served with all three sauces, topped with sour cream and guacamole
). My beau and his mom went with the House Special Quesadilla (a cheese quesadilla dressed with avocado, lettuce, tomato, and salsa with shrimp
) and the Flying Burrito ( grilled steak, gulf shrimp, and chicken with cheddar and jack cheese, black beans, yellow rice, salsa, sour cream and guacamole rolled in a grilled tortilla)
and we all decided to share. Each meal was huge as expected.
I think my favorite of the 3 was the Quesadilla because it had a lot of flavor. I will definitely go back to Juan's. I'm not sure how soon that will be but it was definitely enjoyable enough to want to go back and try something else. :)
