It's crazy that the most talented individuals tend to die so young, leaving us with just a taste of their greatness. I was saddened to hear of the loss of such a great as Amy Winehouse on July 23, 2011. It didn't dawn on me until the next day that she was only a year older than me. I don't know if I just don't acknowledge my age enough or what.
When I first heard her song "Rehab" a few years ago, I actually thought Amy was an African American woman. She had such a big and soulful voice bellowing out of her. I instantly became drawn into her lyrics and her "Frank" and "Back to Black" album. of her along with a lot of pain and battles with addiction and other issues. My heart goes out to those who have lost a loved one for one reason or another, but particularly to those who are in situations where you try to help them with but in the end it's their battle. I know that dealing with addiction is hard. I pray for those who are fighting this life long battle. I pray that they are delivered. In the mean time, I'm jamming Ms Winehouse for the rest of the night.
