It's baaaaack! I couldn't be more excited about my favorite melodrama being back for a 5th season. Not that I'm a soap opera lover but I can't fathom why we can't get a long running African American soap opera going.  I guess I'll be happy since this is like the next best thing. So after following this show for a few years now and joining everyone else in the plea to get it back up and running, what do I really think about it? Well... the first episode was my definition of over the top. So over the top til it just seemed extremely lame. I figured that if I can watch ridiculous reality shows such as Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of Atlanta and The Braxton Family Values, then why can't I sit through this? The opening scene was a mouth full to say the least. I don't know how long Derwin and Melanie are going to remain a couple this season because I'm sure Trey Wiggs will have some form of retaliation. Plus no one is interested in their relationship unless there is drama, and lots of it.  I am finally happy that Derwin can sort of see how she may feel about his child for another woman. What a great way to show how men can sometimes present such a double standard. I really think that Malik needs something else going for him rather than this model druggie girlfriend that seemed to survive a whole season and is back to continue to plague our TVs with horrible acting. I'm not at all surprised that Jason is living out of the box and wilding out so far, but could someone have gotten my permission about reviving Brandy as an actress? I thought we retired her in that Diana Ross movie from back when. In Brandy's defense, if you haven't seen or heard those random at home videos of her singing in her bathroom mirror then you are truly missing out. She truly has amazing talent but her music just doesn't represent her well. As for young Brit Brat, I'm still ready to sign a petition to get the original sandy haired annoying girl back. I know Jason Pitts has always been a jerk but since when did he become so extremely racist? I just don't remember that being the number one quality he has. Inquiring minds want to know where is Kelly Pitts? I mean, her role last season was becoming wreckless and dwindling each episode but how can we just wipe her off the season premiere. Overall, the show may not be the best I've ever seen or even half of what it was during seasons 1-3, yet I'm still going to be tuned in every Tuesday at 9pm central. Lol.
